Airdrie Christian Academy (formerly Airdrie Koinonia Christian School) was founded in September of 1987 with 3 full-time teachers, 1 part-time teacher and approximately 50 students from Kindergarten through Grade 7. It was one of the largest school starts in the Calgary area.

​ACA is accredited by the Alberta Department of Education and maintains official memberships with the Association of Christian Schools International and the Association of Independent Schools and Colleges of Alberta.

By integrating a Christian worldview into the curriculum provided by Alberta Education, we have been impacting the lives of children in Airdrie and surrounding area for over 30 years. We offer a rigorous, yet safe and friendly, environment for children from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and provide them with a solid foundation for their futures, both academically and spiritually. 

​This school was started for His glory, and will continue on only for His glory! Only Christ and His truth are our foundation, and on Him alone will we stand.

1987

The first home of AKCS was at Fellowship Bible Chapel, now named Living Springs Christian Fellowship, 2304 Yankee Valley Blvd. We were there from 1987 to 1995.

1995

The school then moved to the portables behind Faith Community Baptist Church in 1995, now named DayBreak Community Church, 2104 Yankee Valley Blvd. We remained there until June of 2013. 

1998

AKCS had our first Grade 12 graduation.

2004

Purchased 20 acres of land AND built high school portable debt free

2008

Paid off mortgage on 20 acres of land

2008

Started school footprint for 20 acres

2009

Due to costs for services to the 20 acres, AKCS society voted to sell

2010

Sep. - secured Gateway property
Dec. - sold 20 acres of land

2011

June – Capital Campaign detailed strategic plan began AND Airdrie City Council voted unanimously in favor of re-zoning Gateway property

2015

Moved into our new school building and had our first graduating class from 77 Gateway Drive NE.

2017

Airdrie Koinonia Christian School celebrated 30 years of educating students in Christ's name.

2019

Airdrie Koinonia Christian School changes name to Airdrie Christian Academy.
