Secondary

Jordan Gallant - Secondary Vice Principal
At Airdrie Christian Academy, we are called by Jesus Christ to advance God’s Kingdom by educating and training His children to personally know, love and serve Him. This is a comprehensive calling that we integrate into every subject we teach, sport that we play, artistic endeavour and every activity that we organize. At ACA, we partner with families and the local churches to train up a child in the way they should go.

Academics
A dedicated team of educators works to give students the personal attention they need to develop their unique, God-given potential. We offer courses at several levels to meet the diverse needs of our students.
Discipleship
Students are given guidance and opportunity to lead and disciple others through many different avenues. Leading in areas such as chapel and worship teams, student’s council, retreats and mission trips are are all experiences that are challenging and transformational.
Arts
(pottery, drama, art, cooking, woodworking, com. tech., choir)
Developing and inspiring creativity is essential to the formation of a well-rounded person. Whether students are interested in cooking, drama, woodworking, com. tech., pottery or choir, there are opportunities to be trained in these areas at ACA. One of the focal points in drama is the Sr. High production. We do a major play every year that draws a tremendous audience. We also have an Arts showcase where we recognize the amazing work that our students produce.

Athletics is another area where we strive for excellence. We offer a variety of sports for students to participate in. All of our volleyball teams are Zones medalists and our track and field team is extremely competitive.

MULTICULTURAL CULTURE:
  • Our Multicultural Week every November is a much anticipated time to celebrate the over 30 nations our students represent.
  • It has been made even better by the International Student Program we offer in Sr. High.
  • We believe our diversity is one of our greatest strengths and part of what makes us unique within Airdrie and local private Christian schools.
POST-SECONDARY PREPAREDNESS:
  • Students from ACA are prepared for various post-secondary opportunities, from University and College programs to apprenticeships and missions / ministry opportunities. No matter where they want to go, we teach them how to be Christian leaders within their future work context.
  • We have alumni who work in medicine, trades, aviation, arts, church ministries, NGOs, sciences, missions, education, etc.
  • Our on-site academic counsellor and secondary AP are available to help students make wise choices about their future and ensure they have what it takes to get into any program they seek upon graduation.
STEM:
  • ACA holds a Science Fair each year that our students enjoy competing in. We also have a coding, robotics and 3D printing program. Programs like these teach our students the foundational logic skills and just may inspire a future career in computer science or engineering.
STUDENT LIFE / RETREATS:
  • Each September begins with a three-day, two-night retreat for Grades 7-9 and 10-12. These retreats are designed to kick off the year with great bonding opportunities for new and old students alike. Students are given a chance to jumpstart their spiritual growth for the new school year. These are some of the most anticipated days of the year!
  • Students in Jr. and Sr. High have separate commons areas designed for connection and community building. With table-top sports, board games and even a student-run cafe, students have great opportunities to connect at lunch hours.
  • Students bring their own laptops but to help create a better academic and student connection-focused culture, phones and Bluetooth headphones are not used during classtime.
  • SWORD plans many fun events throughout the year, and sports spirit days are used to build community spirit around our athletics program.
  • Students at ACA are encouraged to look outside of themselves as they participate in monthly service days within our greater Airdrie / Calgary community. Students can test out what Jesus says about loving others in new unique ways.
Picture
Athletics is an important part of our student life at ACA. We have a competitive athletic culture in all the sports that we do. We currently have volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, track & field and cross country running. Our focus in athletics is becoming strong student athletes. That means that we strive for excellence in the classroom first and then in our sports second. Our teams are respected within the province and ranked quite high. In 2022 we won local championship banners in badminton, track & field, volleyball and basketball and also placed very high within the province. Placing 2nd and 4th in our zone in volleyball, 1st in badminton and 3rd in track&field were all big achievements for our school. We are currently well on our way to more high-ranking finishes as the year progresses.

Aside from extracurricular teams we also offer a sports medicine class and a dryland training program that allows student athletes to train outside of practice time. Training up champions in and out of the classroom is our aim. Let's go Warriors!
