Secondary Program

Cristie Watt
Welcome to ACA, where we strive to cultivate a Christ-centered learning environment rooted in the development of the whole student—academically, spiritually, and relationally. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to discipleship, service, and academic excellence, guiding each student to become a purposeful and equipped servant leader.

This year, our theme verse, Philippians 4:6-7, reminds us: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” These words inspire us to walk in faith, knowing that God’s peace is with us as we navigate the challenges and victories of our educational journey.

As a community, we focus not only on academic success but on shaping students who serve others with a heart of compassion and grace. Through our discipleship efforts and service opportunities, we seek to encourage young people to reflect Christ’s love and truth in every aspect of their lives.

We hope you will join us on this incredible journey at ACA, where we prepare students to thrive in both their calling and character.

Academics
At ACA, our dedicated team of educators is committed to providing students with the academic training they need to nurture their unique, God-given potential. We offer courses at various levels, and offer select learning supports to those students requiring more support, ensuring that we meet the diverse educational needs of all students who enter our programs.
Discipleship
We provide students with many meaningful opportunities to lead and disciple others. Through involvement in chapel services, worship teams, student councils, school clubs, retreats, and mission trips, students can experience personal growth and transformation while stepping into leadership roles.
Arts
Creativity is vital to developing a well-rounded individual. At ACA, we offer training in various artistic disciplines, including drama, visual arts, cooking, woodworking, coding and robotics, 3D printing, musical training and orchestras. Our drama program features an annual Senior High production that draws large audiences, and we seek to proudly showcase student talent whenever possible.
Athletics
We celebrate our excellence in athletics and sportsmanship, offering various athletic opportunities for students to engage in. Year over year, most of our teams make it to provincial and zone levels, and multiple athletes sign to post-secondary teams, demonstrating the dedication and talent of our student-athletes.

MULTICULTURAL CULTURE:
  • Our Multicultural Weeks every October/November are a much anticipated time to celebrate the over 45 nations our students represent.
  • The International Student Program, which we offer to English-proficient students from around the world coming into Sr. High, has made our school culture even better.
  • Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths and part of what makes us unique within Airdrie and local private Christian schools.
POST-SECONDARY PREPAREDNESS:
  • ACA students are prepared for various post-secondary opportunities, from University and College programs to apprenticeships and missions/ministry opportunities. No matter where they want to go, we teach them how to be Christian leaders within their future work context.
  • We have alumni who work in medicine, trades, professional sports, aviation, arts, church ministries, NGOs, sciences, missions, education, etc.
  • Our on-site academic counsellors and secondary principal are available to help students make wise choices about their future and ensure they have what it takes to get into any program they seek upon graduation.
STEM:
  • ACA holds a Science Fair each year that our students enjoy competing in. We also have a coding, robotics and 3D printing program. Programs like these teach our students foundational logic skills and may inspire a future computer science or engineering career.
  • Through our STEAM courses, our Jr. High students get a taste for the interconnected nature of Science, Math, Art, Technology, Engineering, and God's design.
STUDENT LIFE / RETREATS:
  • Each September begins with a three-day, two-night retreat for Grades 7-9 and 10-12. These retreats are designed to start the year with great bonding opportunities for new and old students. Students are given a chance to jumpstart their spiritual growth for the new school year. These are some of the most anticipated days of the year!
  • Students in junior and senior high schools have separate areas designed for connection and community building with thier peers. With table-top sports, board games and the chance to purchase fun snacks, students have great opportunities to connect at lunch hours and during specified breaks.
  • To help create a better academic and student-connection-focused culture, Laptops, tablets, smartwatches, phones, and Bluetooth headphones are not used during class time without the teacher's request. We desire that all of our learners grow with a healthy respect for technology, their health and learning, and how they can be connected.
  • SWORD (student leadership) plans many fun events throughout the year, and spirit days are used to build community spirit.
  • ACA students are encouraged to look outside themselves as they participate in regular service opportunities within our greater Airdrie / Calgary community. Students can test out what Jesus says about loving others in new, unique ways.
